The use of white and black in this piece works really well to give this portrait a creepy feel. To be more specific I would say that the black around the eyes and mouth put further emphasis on the creepy traits of this artwork. In addition the slightly darkened edges work well with the piece and do not distract from the face, but rather add to the piece in a good way. Overall this portrait is very successful.
This self portrait initially appears quite cynical in an ironic humorous way. The extreme contrast of the person is very successful against the bright pink background. I appreciate the vignette effect around the corners because it helps the composition guide the eye into the central focus point.
